Race Report by John Sainz
July 16, 2011: .Another
great night of racing at Oakland Valley Speedway with our regular show and the
Animal Money race being run. The features started of with the biggest class of
the night, the Heavys, with 18 entered and fifteen starting the feature. A
little trouble getting this one started, but it was Clinton Mills putting on a
good show and cruised to the win. Adam Fredericks came in second with Dale
Madsen taking third. The Animals Money Race ,with eleven entered, went to a
very fast Adam Fredericks, driving his new Millenium Impulse from JK
Performance Kart Shop. He had the field covered as he pulled away for the win.
Alex Arndt was second with Derek Potter placing third. Hopefully we can do this
race again this year. In the Lights class, Danny Hoeffner picked up his second
win in a row in a close race with Dennis Mathews. Alex Arndt came in third.
In the Senior Slingshot class, with our
biggest field of the season so far,
eleven Slingshots took to the track, Fast Eddie Reiley took the win in
impressive fashion for his sixth win this year, and Matt Reiley took second.
Will Eastman in his first time here this year placed third. The Junior
Slingshot class saw Leo Fotopoulos pick up his first win in a great run over
Cole Hentschel ,second, and Isaiah Masker was third. In Rookie Champ, Devin
Greer takes the win over Jake Mason. The Junior Sportsman Champ class had a
great race for the win with the top four finishers within a second of each
other. It came down to the wire and Tighe Sherlock held off a hard charging
Sean Glennon to pick up his second win of the season. Ryan Quackenbush came in
third. Great race. Max Handley, visiting our track for the first time, hit hard
into the turn four wall, without contact from any driver. He was a little
banged up but was OK. In Senior Champ, Joe Kata took the win over John Sainz.
In Junior 1/ Jr.Clone, Trevor Ross took the win over Charlie Tibbitts and
Anthony Roselli. Garrett Lawlor was our only Junior Rookie driver tonight.
Senior Stock class had an eventful night as
Kevin Morgan had hard contact with the turn 2 wall in an early heat race. But
he came out and won the second heat. Kevin did not make the features, I m sure
he will be very sore for a few days.. Us Senior guys don’t heal as fast as we
used to. Anyway the race went to Chris Melchor getting his second win this
year, with last week’s winner Roger Belanger a close second. Bob Reynolds came
in third. In Junior Stock, Brendan Finley, making his first appearance this
year, took the win by a good margin over McKenzie Hasenflue, with Patrick
Dempsey third. Junior 3 saw a dominant Dominick Roselli pull away from the
field for his fourth win and three in a row. Jared Silvernail came in second
and Ben Wilbur third. The Mediums class had Alex Wanerus take the win over Ed
Owens and in Junior 2, Flyin Ryan Quackenbush took the win over Sean Glennon by
just 9 hundredths of a second. Close race!
The Senior Rookie class had Misty Granski take the win over Kyle Verity.
Great job by all of our drivers tonight. We have a Heavys Money race scheduled
in two weeks. Should be a great race!! The Heavys always put on a great show.
